Art & Soul of Jtown (August 6, 11am - 5pm)
The Art & Soul of J-town is a new feature of the Nihonmachi Street Fair (NSF). Our hope is to bring together and showcase the many Asian artists in our diverse APA communities. Last year we honored & remembered the 70th Anniversary of the Hiroshima / Nagasaki Atomic Bombing. Artist Leon Sun created on site a beautiful painting, while poet, Peter Yamamoto recited many of his poetry.
For this year’s presentation of the Art & Soul of J-town, we will commemorate the 110th Anniversary of the of San Francisco's Japantown, home base for the Nihonmachi Street Fair. One of 3 remaining Japantowns in the United States, San Francisco's Japantown is a cultural hub that bridges the old and new. The home to many nonprofit organizations, restaurants, and businesses.
We'll feature local artists and poets focusing on the 110th celebration!
